Filming is progressing steadily on the new essay-hybrid feature film "The Gaze", directed by Christos N. Karakasis. Blending fiction with essay cinema, the film offers a profound existential reflection on memory, time, art, and the human condition. The film unfolds through images captured in various cities and landscapes across Greece and abroad, creating a cinematic journey in which places become more than settings—they emerge as vessels of memory, experience, and personal transformation.
At the heart of the narrative lies humanity's relationship with creation, loss, love, and the search for meaning. Through personal monologues, evocative cinematic imagery, and
fictional elements, The Gaze approaches art as an act of self-discovery and inner exploration.
Drawing inspiration from poetic and essay cinema, the film also engages in a dialogue with painting, theatre, literature, and philosophy, creating a multilayered cinematic experience in which the act of seeing becomes a way of understanding both the world and ourselves.
Production will continue over the coming months in new locations, completing a film that aspires to become a contemporary work of essay cinema distinguished by its strong artistic vision and existential depth.
Currently in production, "The Gaze" is expected to be completed in the near future and will be submitted to international film festivals before its public release.
